By the strength of our Lord Jesus Christ we copy the Order of Mixing, Preparation and MinglingThe Order of MixingFirst, Our Father in heaven ...Then they offer the prayer of the first Hulala, Make us worthy, our Lord and our God ...And they say the Hulala, Blessed is the man who in the way ... while one brings pure flour, olive oil,and warm water, and he mixes them together, setting out the leaven, and adding salt at his discretion.And he recites three hulalas from "Blessed is the man" until the end of the kneading. When he isfinished he marks the lump in five places: in the middle, on the east, on the west, on the north, and onthe south. Then he covers it well until the time of preparation. The Mixing is ended.The Order of PreparationWhen he prepares he first takes the veil from the face of the lump, then the leaven, and then takes theRoyal Portion from the middle of the lump, and makes in it a hollowed out place which is foursquare.He places in it a little of the reserved olive oil, then goes and gets the Malka, saying,I will extol you, my Lord, the king and I will bless your name for ever and ever. Always will I blessyou, and I will praise your name for ever. Great is our Lord, and greatly glorious. There is no end tohis greatness. Generation after generation shall tell of your works; and show forth your might; andshall speak of your terrible strength; and relate your mighty deeds; and tell of the dread of your power.They shall relate your greatness; the memory of your many loving-kindnesses.Then he opens the jar and with two of his fingers takes from the Malka and says,This lump is signed and hallowed with the ancient and holy leaven of our Lord Jesus Christ, whichwas given and handed down to us by our holy fathers, Mar Addai, Mar Mari, and Mar Thomas theApostles, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.And he makes the Sign of the Cross over the lump, then takes from the Malka and signs over the oil atthe same time.
