Wurmbrand Richard
1909-2001, Romanian Lutherian clergy, professor of Jewish descent. Became Christian in 1948. He rescued Jews during World War II. He was imprisoned and tortured by the Communist regime of Romania. After 14 years, he was ransomed for $10,000. He emigrated to America and helped Christians who are persecuted. He wrote more than 18 books, the most widely known being Tortured for Christ.
